NQT Induction and Development

The Buckinghamshire Learning Trust (BLT) works as an Appropriate Body inducting around 450 NQTs a year, providing a complete and comprehensive service to our UK schools as well as our International Partners.

When appointing an NQT, schools must select an Appropriate Body who will quality assure the induction period. This ensures that NQTs are supported correctly, in line with statutory guidance and that the assessment process is fair and consistent across schools.

The BLT provides a complete NQT service that ensures your school, Mentors and NQTs are supported through this important Induction Year.

Our professional service offers Appropriate Body support with a dedicated and knowledgeable team there to support you through a series of ways: telephone line, email and in-school support and guidance for all parties involved in the Induction process.

We also offer a comprehensive support service available when NQTs are experiencing difficulties. The NQT and School Improvement Team has a wealth of experience when dealing with this sensitive issue which means that whatever the case, we can confidently support you to ensure the best outcome for all involved.

Even though some teachers may already have significant teaching experience, they are still required to serve NQT Induction. At the Trust we welcome fast-track applications to recognise this experience and allow teachers to complete their induction within a shorter time frame.

Our new online NQT system means that schools can benefit from an online programme which cuts the need for paperwork and so allowing your NQT administration to be less time consuming and in one place.

The BLT also offers a full CPD package for NQTs and Mentors whatever sector they are teaching in: primary, EYFS or special schools.

If you require secondary NQT training for your school/MAT, please contact us directly to discuss your needs.

The NQT service and support package was excellent and our BLT contact, who clearly understood our needs from the outset, was amazing and extremely supportive of the school.

Ms Linda Coveney, Headteacher (Kent’s Hill School)

BLT provide extra training as you enter the working world and maintain the connection even after you’ve finished the training …it feels like you’re going to be supported if anything goes wrong…that you’re not on your own.

Ms Georgia Garside, Newly Qualified Teacher (Claytons Primary)

‘I would just like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at BLT for the fantastic NQT training days…I could not have asked for a better NQT year. I have fallen in love with teaching even more which I thought was impossible.’

Fateen Akram (High Ash CoE Primary School)
